Lovely old building but more could be made of it. We had an issue with our room but staff were happy to act on it and move us to a different room. This was an upgrade to a sea view, which we appreciated. I think it's a shame that this lovely old hotel isn't invested in fully, it looks and feels dated and shabby, but not in a good way. It could be amazing with a lick of paint/a good carpet clean/losing the horrid net curtains! It was comfortable, staff were welcoming and helpful, I would have liked to have had breakfast in the dining area as it looks out into the sea, but our itinerary didn't allow for that. I would recommend this hotel, but don't expect too much if you are used to the finer things in life. That said, I'd stay here again, as the staff were great and the en-suite bath was lovely and deep!

Loved the history associated with the hotel stunned it dates from the Victorian period, which is very remarkable and is in amazing condition considering its age. The room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable making for a lovely night's sleep. The food in the restaurant was very delicious with a wide variety of food on offer and booking a table was very convenient and straightforward. The food at breakfast was self service so very easy to get what you wanted and also when you wanted at your own leisure and pace. The views from the room itself were amazing out to sea and some of the best of any hotel around. The staff were very pleasant and helpful making the stay all the more pleasant.

We had a suite with sea view which was exquisite. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom was superb Sofa in lounge part was past it's sell by date but everything else fine. Breakfast was excellent with attentive staff. Restaurant food was good although staff were rushed and bar staff had no idea! We put this down to being Christmas Holiday and realise nobody wants to work those days. The ones that did were very friendly but overwhelmed. Getting a drink at the bar was a test of skill as staff were very young and wrapped up working the till and ignoring customers. Again we accepted no one wishes to work these holiday shifts. All in all we had a splendid time and will return again.

A grand old dame on the seafront, this hotel has been around a while but still manages to exude a charm from better days. In its heyday, important Victorians would have stayed here, and descended the very impressive Grade II listed marble staircase to come down to dine. The rooms are spacious and quirky, if a little old fashioned, but the tea/coffee and biscuits are welcome. While not the most modern of accommodations, the important things are still there - clean rooms, friendly service, a decent breakfast, and great views of that beach from the seafront rooms.

The room was spacious, clean and well presented. The bed was comfortable and clean. The hotel was ideally placed along the promenade and easily found. The sea view was lovely from the dinning and bar area, where you could have something to eat or drink with friends and admire the view. Built in the 1820’s this is an old traditional hotel with many original features of grand stairways and floor to ceiling mirrors. A small 6 person lift transfers you from reception to the floor of your room. Wonderfully lovely and relaxing stay.
